Curriculum OpportunitiesWe pride ourselves on a wide range of curriculum opportunites for our students
It’s not the curriculum that we offer that sets us apart, it’s the manner in which it’s delivered
Any school can teach a curriculum. Amazing schools like ours is full of teachers actively and passionately exploring the possibilities of making their teaching practice more innovative, engaging and fun at every turn. This is the single ingredient that drives the most growth in our students.
The success we attain is not only evidenced by the assessment data – but it’s seen through the smiles and joy we see on our students’ faces as a concept is grasped, practised and extended/applied, This is the indefinable element that drives us as teachers to produce and grow our own teaching skills year in, year out.
St Benedict’s is a School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) school.
At St Benedict’s we implement the Victorian Curriculum. English is organised into three interrelated strands – Language, Literature and Literacy, which together focus on developing students’ knowledge, understanding and skills in Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing.
At St. Benedict’s we adopt teaching and learning strategies in Mathematics that enable students to be actively engaged in the learning process. Our Numeracy program covers the requirements of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment (VCAA) by encouraging a variety of knowledge building and authentic experiences.
At St Benedict’s, Religious Education is at the centre of both the formal and informal school curriculum. We invite and support all our students to live their faith through developing a deepened relationship with God and to form loving relationships with others.
Our Students are divided into four house colours and these house teams compete at the Annual Athletics Carnival. The House Colours are named after the founding principals of St. Benedict’s. At the beginning of each year all new students are allocated a house colour.
Our students showcase their artwork every second year through our Art Expo. All students participate in art classes where they are able to show their creativity.
